How odd. It's not like Exchange Server is the only collaborative solution out there.

Exactly... this is a bizarre one... I wonder if they were just trialling Linux with a view to leveraging a cheaper licensing deal with Microsoft?

Beats me. I have happy customers using Ximian on Linux connecting to Exchange.
This is a non-story. ;o)

The issue is that they are using an old version of Exchange that won't work with Ximian and the like. They're probably still using windows 95 or 3.11.
